Since reporting the bug, I closed the Installer window. Now, the screen is blank except for the home icon (upper right corner), a larger Install icon, and several small icons in the upper right (jolicloud, battery, wifi, processor, sound, 2 grayed out icons I am unfamiliar with, and time. I cannot figure out a way to access any files to attach the /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman files.
