Good news: Recent updates (since Thursday March 18th) have restored proper GDM behavior. I can suspend and resume, return to my session, and move between VTs. I've run
$ sudo bash /usr/share/checkbox/scripts/suspend_test --full | tee ~/sustest.full and have attached sustest.full. The only thing that appears to have failed is the first test, suspending from dbus. I've not had the "no network on resume" for a while. That's + However, I do have the diminished screen brightness upon resume problem.
