I am having the same problem. It seems to be related with "X-Ubuntu- Gettext-Domain=nautilus" getting added at the top of the /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop file (actually all nautilus*.desktop files I had a glance at look that way).
Also, starting nautilus from a terminal results in the following output before dumping core: (nautilus:12768): EggSMClient-WARNING **: Could not load desktop file '/usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop': Key file does not start with a group Removing the first line from /usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop fixes things for me, looks like something in the build system is messing up those desktop files. Some applications seem to be able to cope with that though, but at least nautilus is not. Attached is the broken desktop file. ** Attachment added: "Broken nautilus desktop file" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/41397979/nautilus.broken.desktop -- nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in __libc_start_main() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542438 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
