You are young indeed. The Gnome simplicity and the default font and font
size of Ubuntu are the first 'wow' factor for many. It's clear, it is
readable and its appealing. You don't have to be close to the screen and
to focus (especially on a small factor size display, like a notebook),
and you can keep working longer, without visual discomfort. Why should
we change that? For you?

I have read your blog "It’s the little things that count", looks like a
personal quest for a global 10.04 GUI re-font according to one vision,
spread in 16 bug reports; no thanks. There is already a design team. If
you want a smaller font--for you--then it's not a bug any more, but a
mere setting in your preferences
