Running Lucid on 2.6.32-16-generic and adding the fix to "the end of
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf." from post #53 worked.  After going into
pavucontrol (Pulse Audio Volume Control), the Output Devices tab and
changing the Internal Audio Analog Stereo Port to "Analog Speakers" from
"Analog Output" or "Analog Headphones."
