Hi Marc,

It worked for a day, almost.  I went back to DSL/ethernet, and tried to
do another dialup  with Gnome-ppp and it would not recognize the
U.S. Robotics modem (usb).  I am away from home now, and can't try
Karmic with the dialup routine for a while.

Yes, I am still interested in trying to debug the issue, but will have to
return home to do so, after Wednesday.

P.S. I thought I documented this failure on "launchpad" bug# 469881.
I must be getting senile.
