Hi Tzadik, Yes, thanks, I did see your post from 11/15/09 and considered trying your solution. However, I have an Epson rather than Brother scanner, and I was able to correct the problem by, more likely, switching USB ports or possibly having forced a scanner reset with a WinXP SP3 machine.
