yes: right click on the title bar of a gimp window > Advanced > Special 
settings for the application
Then in the Geometry tab: Desktop > Force > Desktop 3.

I'm translating from French, so the labels might differ a bit in "real"
english.

Also, I must remind that I'm under Kubuntu.
