I have a similar problem on a Dell Vostro 1500 (nVidia Corporation G86 [GeForce 8400M GS]), running Lucid Alpha 3 (2.6.32-15-generic) with nvidia-current (195.36.03). Suspend works, but on resume the screen is blank. Switching to tty (Ctrl+Alt+F2) followed by Alt+F7 / Alt+F8 sometimes brings back the GDM login screen, but not always. When that doesn't work, it requires a hard reset.
