Public bug reported: Ubuntu 9.10 Hardware: Hp 6735s Laptop, AMD turion x2 64, Radeon 3200 HD I posted much about the issue here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1402806
Symptoms: At random gnome desktop freezes for 2-4 seconds (no mouse movement, keyboard control), and then I get black screen without any control whatsoever, the only option is to hard reboot. After the reboot sometimes gnome won't start (hangs at loading screen, and drops to black screen again), sometimes it starts, loads all the apps but after 10-15 seconds I get black screen again. Sometimes everything starts normal and sometimes gnome starts in none visual mode. After each black screen hard boot is rquired. I'm using compiz with awn, emerald and normal visual mode. So far I've tried reinstalling gflrx drivers from 9.6 till current, I've downgrade to 9.04, used envy to reinstall ati drivers reinstalled compiz reinstalled Karmic several times, and reinstalled 9.04...and so on crashes remain. They occur anywhere from 2-3 times a day to 2-3 times a week. To point out that I started using ubuntu with 9.04 and I didn't have any problems, these crashes started after I upgraded to Karmic. I'm relative new to ubuntu so I can't figure out what is the cause for all of this, perhaps someone here will if there is anything I should post let me know. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Random Karmic hangs followed by a black screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532017 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
