This bug still exists in karmic with KDE 4.4.1 (from the kubuntu PPA)
and the following package versions:

Package: gtk2-engines-qtcurve
Version: 0.69.1-0ubuntu1

Package: kde-style-qtcurve
Version: 0.69.1-0ubuntu1

The following option is necessary to reproduce the bug:
  "Apply colors to non-KDE4 applications".

The error is still the same:

$ gedit
/usr/share/themes/Clearlooks/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:49: Invalid symbolic color 'bg_color'
/usr/share/themes/Clearlooks/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:49: error: invalid identifier
`bg_color', expected valid identifier
