This is filed against nvidia-graphics-drivers but it looks like you
don't even have it installed? You are using vesa which is why only
800x600 and 1024x768 is offered. Can you go to system - administration -
hardware drivers and activate the nvidia-current driver and reboot and
see if it's any different?
