I had this bug in Karmic, and the fix definitely worked for me. However, I installed Lucid Alpha 3 and the bug is BACK. I know its the same bug because all of the workarounds for Karmic (Firefox disable IPv6, Grub disable IPv6, etc...) fix it in Lucid.
I think people are frustrated because a) this bug is really annoying, b) it took a long time to even acknowledge that it was something that needed fixing, and c) we don't want to see TWO consecutive release version of Ubuntu have unusable internet out-of-the-box. -- [karmic regression] all network apps / browsers suffer from multi-second delays by default due to IPv6 DNS lookups https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/417757 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
