In my opinion, this bug should be raised (at least) to a "Medium" priority. As I pointed out in another bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/92296), this rendering problem is very frequent. At least within the little community of mathematicians, whose main interest in computers is to open pdf's and send e-mails, I believe that it represents a very serious drawback when experiencing the Ubuntu distribution. Of course one may use xpdf instead, but this requires some acquaintance with the "free world"...
