JB, glad I could help. I'm happy that your project is moving forward. As
for anybody's private use I'd say SMplayer is quite a better choice. It
is a build up on the mplayer base from which most video player projects
have taken. It does not have this subtitle issue. Also, to balance on
the less bugs side it has quite a few extra features like remembering
where the movie was stopped and resume from that point forward. It works
both on Windows and Linux. And it hasn't even reached version 1. So
probably the VLC team has rushed things just to label it stable. But
that's their call. I wish that by version 2 VLC will have this playback
issues solved and could really push some features of its own. See you in
a few years!
