Hi all, I went the steps as described in the link <http://maxolasersquad.blogspot.com/2009/11/scanning-problems-in-ubuntu-karmic-910.html> but not exactly. I have the same problems with the path /etc/init.d/.... and it doesn't work with my changes.
My files are located directly in /etc/... Yes I added a file (because it wasn't to find in /etc/sane.d/.. only another types of scanners) with hp3500.conf and wrote into it the output from sane-find-scanner: # # Configuration file for the hp3500 backend # # HP Scanjet 3500 usb 0x03f0 0x2205 After this I have installed the newest version of libsane and restarted the sane deamon sudo /etc/init.d/saned restart Now I have started the scan. It runs to the end and finishes without picture. So I went back to the older version of libsane. It works.
