That's encouraging, at least it isn't entirely broken!
I don't have Windows installed anymore, but there is a feature of the Windows 
driver that is worth investigating.
There's that Connextant sound options application, which lets you determine how 
the headphone switch is used.
It's possible to configure the system to use both speakers and minijack stereo 
out. Because this headphone jack sensing is handled in software, you should 
poke around in that connextant applet: try disabling and re-enabling the 
settings pertaining to those features.
This isn't exactly scientific, but I think there's good reason to consider this.
Similar issues sometimes happen with WiFi chipsets, where a user reports that 
WiFi does not work in Windows after having booted Linux. This occurs because 
the driver loads some firmware/microcode or whatever. A hard reobot of the 
computer (ie. The computer and chip no longer recieve power) as opposed to a 
soft reboot (reboot from software) will generally solve these problems.

I bet this is just an issue with the headphone jack sensing, or your speakers 
are blown.
Can you guys still use the microphone?
