Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2
If grub is set to use text mode (GRUB_TERMINAL=console uncommented in /etc/default/grub), the highlighted entry of grub is blinking. This happens because of this line from /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme: set menu_color_highlight=black/white Bright background is not safe to use. The same bit can be interpreted as a blinking attribute. The BIOS default is blinking. I'm seeing it on Toshiba Satellite 1800. Maybe things have changes since then. To eliminate blinking, following line should be used instead: set menu_color_highlight=black/light-gray ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Wed Feb 24 16:07:14 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 Package: grub-pc 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu4.1 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-19.56-generic SourcePackage: grub2 Uname: Linux 2.6.31-19-generic i686 XsessionErrors: (gnome-settings-daemon:1378): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (gnome-settings-daemon:1378): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (nautilus:1435): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:1440): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (gnome-panel:1434): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -3 and height 24 ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- grub: highlighted entry blinks in text mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527334 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
