After some more browsing of ndiswrapper sources, I believe this is an issue with the binary windows driver taking a spin lock when it shouldn't. Because this issue is caused by the closed source binary driver, there's nothing we can do to fix the issue. You may be able to get more help on the ndiswrapper mailing list if you wish to continue working on a solution.
