I just got what sounds like this bug right after installing Kubuntu. $ uname -a Linux kubuntu 2.6.31-19-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 28 01:26:53 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux Machine is an older Macbook.
The symptoms: Knetworkmanager seems to store the password for a wireless connection but then asks again. Knetworkmanager does not attempt to connect when you submit the password. It stays in the disconnected state with the disconnected icon in the tray. When you choose the connection again, it asks for the password again (twice), doing the same thing as above. When run in a terminal, Knetworkmanager just says "Object::disconnect: Unexpected null parameter". This message seems to be produced when the password is submitted. I reproduced the bug by first allowing Kwallet to store the connection password. It gets annoying having to type my user password each time I log in just to connect to the internet, so I disabled Kwallet. The next time I tried to connect (the next reboot), Knetworkmanager exhibits this bug. It is not such an obvious relationship because one can reboot hours after making the Kwallet and other system changes. My solution was to re-enable Kwallet. Now I still have to type in my user password to open the wallet, but wireless connections are working. It seems that Knetworkmanager does not fall back to accepting the user's input when Kwallet was previously used and is now unavailable. -- Can't connect to network with WEP encryption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446303 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to plasma-widget-networkmanagement in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
