This indeed is no longer "an issue for me": As you may have expected, I've looked for possible workarounds in the meantime. In fact, I've moved the related files to another system, now having the same UID/GID's as (2) and stopped using them on (3). But the behaviour described above should still be repeatable, because all related systems are still up & running here. So just don't hesitate to ask.
