I may have mis-stated.  It is not actually the DESKTOP panel that I am
referring to but what I think you'all refer to as Ubuntu
artwork/panel/logo that is displayed just before getting up to the
desktop.  I believe there are 3 icons (that refer to various hardware
components) that are displayed within the larger Ubuntu artwork logo and
it is those icons that are NOT very clear.  I don't know if this logo
can be captured by screen capture because it is displayed before the
desktop has been gotten to but if you will tell me how, I will be glad
to try the next time I reboot the machine.
