I'm getting the same bug. It seems to be related to the fact that I have a Windows XP partition.
Workaround: gksu -- ubiquity --no-migration assistant My logs and configuration should be in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/aptitude/+bug/525381 -- Ubiquity reports invalid username.
