Public bug reported: This is mainly informational. I have my own work around.
Whenever I tried to boot your graphical based installer, it failed. So I used the Server version. Much better anyway (for me 8-). Once I had a working system, I installed X and I had the problem. Total hang whenever I was starting X. The log looked okay. Nothing reported. Just saying that it is starting as expected. The only solution to fix the problem has been to always run 915resolution (from the package of the same name.) What I will suggest is: if you detect an i845 or similar board, ask the user if he/she wants to run 915resolution before to switch to X11. (i.e. first time try without it and then re-try with it and it may just magically work!) I now run 915resolution in my boot process. Once I have a login prompt, I can start X and it never fails. Hope this helps other people...
