Exactly what is the bug here? The fact that you had to mount and unmount
the disk manually? (Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, I'm just
trying to digest the amount of information you presented.)

BTW, how are you "hotunplugging" your esata disk? Just yanking the cable
out? You should be using a tool like scsiadd to properly tell the kernel
it is going to go away.
