...seeing this also in 9.10 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu. You are using Ubuntu 9.10- the Karmic Koala - released in October 2009 and supported until April 2011.

I then choose a non image type file like letter.doc.
