...seeing this also in 9.10

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu.
You are using Ubuntu 9.10- the Karmic Koala - released in October 2009 and
supported until April 2011.

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy packagename'
or by checking in Synaptic.
$ apt-cache policy gnome-control-center
gnome-control-center:
  Installed: 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:2.28.1-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What you expected to happen
Went to System>Preferences>About Me and in lower right hand corner choose "all
files" instead of "images". I then choose a non image type file like
letter.doc. Nothing happens and my current icon/pic does not change.

4) What happened instead
I would expect to see an error since this is not a valid image type.
