Public bug reported: Hi,
I've set up multiple keyboard layouts in gnome-keyboard-properties (Swiss French and Dvorak-Bépo) and these settings are not handled correctly throughout Gnome. Depending which one is defined as the default layout (top of the list of layouts in gnome-keyboard-properties) : - **Shortcuts** in gnome-terminal and applications running inside gnome- terminal will always use the default layout, even if I switched to another. Standard keys are working as expected. So, if Swiss French is my default layout and I switched to using Dvorak-bépo, instead of hitting Ctrl + C to terminate a program in the terminal I'll have to hit Ctrl + X. If I set Dvorak-bépo as the default layout (top of the list), shortcuts will work correctly when I'm using this layout, but if I switch to Swiss French I'll have the same issue. - when locking the screen then trying to unlock it, I have to type my password. At the right of the password field, there is an indicator of the keyboard layout in use. This indicator will always show the **default layout** regardless of the one currently in use. So if Swiss French is my default layout and if I switched later to Dvorak-bépo, then the indicator in the screen unlocking dialog will still display Swiss French, while the characters I'll type for my password will use the current layout in use : Dvorak-bépo. If I set Dvorak-bépo as the default layout, this one will always be displayed in the screen unlocking dialog. There may be similar issues in other gnome apps, but I didn't find them. It seems the current keyboard layout is not taken into account in all contexts. This bug affects at least Jaunty and Karmic. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- multiple keyboard layouts not handled correctly in Gnome https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519722 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
