Please note, that there are other issues regarding the package plymouth, with NVidia card and nvidia-current drivers. For example you should measure the time your system takes to shut-down (or restart if you will). With plymouth installed it takes 2-3 secs more time. Also, there is clearly a noticeable difference concerning boot-up time too.
