As hal is in the process of being deprecated, the suspend quirks were 
integrated into pm-utils (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Halsectomy). Could there 
be something missing or gone wrong with the conversion? It looks to me as if 
the system does not use the proper quirks for the hardware when 
suspending/resuming. Is there a way to check which quirks are applied now?
