Sorry for my last info. It is wrong. Although "it works", the X and Y settings in monitors.xml are not meant for setting these display's dimensions. It seems they are used for an offset in the position of everything on your screen. It works if you put anything different than the default (0 and 0) there, because it forces to change the screen settings.
You can get the same effect if you change the screen size with xrandr -s to any valid size and change it back afterwards. Somehow the values that Totem needs are written somewhere in memory when changing your screen settings. Well, that meens this is still not solved. I don't like to change my screen setting each time after booting my system in order to get the right aspect ratio in Totem. Moreover I don't like to use the settings in monitors.xml in the wrong way (it is now set to "1" and "1"). Does anybody know what totem is missing (from where) after booting the system and how to solve this in a right way? -- Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic - Wrong aspect ratio in movies. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/488495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
