Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager
I use a Huawei E172 3G USB dongle for my internet connection (on Vodafone). What happens: Network Manager (or perhaps network-manager-applet - I don't know which package is responsible) keeps forgetting my 3G broadband connection settings. When I load my Desktop, I get the the "New Connection" wizard (screenshot attached). This happens nearly every day, or after approximately one in three reboots - although there is no pattern to this and it appears completely random. This happens when no changes have been made to my system - no recently installed updates etc. Each time, I have to go through the wizard again and re-enter all my settings. What should happen: Network Manager/network-manager-applet should remember my 3G broadband settings. I should not have to go through the wizard and re-enter them nearly every day.
