I would also wish to see this feature. I use my laptop in multiple networks and every now an than I have to manually change my location in gnome to select the proxy property. It would be great to have this automatically done as soon as the connection comes up. One more thing could be to have preferences given when say I have both wireless and wired connections active in a computer. Automatic proxy selection might go wrong in such scenario.
