Hello Today I install hdparm and test HDDs on my servers and get this data: ---------------- # hdparm -i /dev/hda
/dev/hda: Model=ST31000340NS, FwRev=SN06, SerialNo=9QJ5LWPL Config={ HardSect NotMFM HdSw>15uSec Fixed DTR>10Mbs RotSpdTol>.5% } RawCHS=16383/16/63, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=4 BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=16, MultSect=16 CurCHS=16383/16/63, CurSects=16514064, LBA=yes, LBAsects=268435455 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:120,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120} PIO modes: pio0 pio1 pio2 pio3 pio4 DMA modes: mdma0 mdma1 mdma2 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 udma2 AdvancedPM=no WriteCache=enabled Drive conforms to: unknown: ATA/ATAPI-4 ATA/ATAPI-5 ATA/ATAPI-6 ATA/ATAPI-7 * signifies the current active mode ---------------- # hdparm -Tt /dev/hda /dev/hda: Timing cached reads: 8692 MB in 2.00 seconds = 4353.79 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 12 MB in 3.09 seconds = 3.88 MB/sec ---------------- I think most important here it's "BuffSize=0kB" and "Timing buffered disk reads ... 3.88 MB/sec" is so small. This is link to official specification page. This hard drive contain 32MB buffer. Also it's CentOS 5.4 on board and #uname -a => Linux A102 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 20 07:32:21 EST 2010 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux In attach I put dmesg, dmidecode and df data. Who can help me. Maby need some drivers o something other? ** Attachment added: "Additional server data" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/38648210/server-A102.txt -- Hard drive BuffSize=0kB https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/31072 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
