Hi James, I'm sorry I didn't think to post again. I no longer get the message. I re-installed Kunbuntu from scratch instead of just upgrading from my older version to the newer version. If I understand it right a vestigal "nobody" account was the cause of the error message. I think the "nobody" account was created and used by the update notifier. The kerneloops-daemon message no longer appears but only after the complete re-install.
Sorry, I'm not a linux geek, just a user. I hope I didn't waste your time. peace, Matt --- On Sun, 1/31/10, James Westby <jw+deb...@jameswestby.net> wrote: > From: James Westby <jw+deb...@jameswestby.net> > Subject: [Bug 464853] Re: kerneloops-daemon sends error message whenever > software is upgraded. the upgrades all work though. > To: blim...@yahoo.com > Date: Sunday, January 31, 2010, 4:31 PM > Hi, > > I'm afraid I have to close this bug as the actual warning > you get isn't > available in the attachment provided, so it's hard to know > what the problem > is. > > If you can include the warning message you see then we can > re-open > the bug. > > Thanks, > > James > > > ** Changed in: kerneloops (Ubuntu) > Status: Incomplete => > Invalid > > -- > kerneloops-daemon sends error message whenever software is > upgraded. the upgrades all work though. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/464853 > You received this bug notification because you are a direct > subscriber > of the bug. > > Status in “kerneloops” package in Ubuntu: Invalid > > Bug description: > Binary package hint: update-manager > > upgrading to 9.10 > using synaptic since the upload > > To unsubscribe from this bug, go to: > https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kerneloops/+bug/464853/+subscribe > -- kerneloops-daemon sends error message whenever software is upgraded. the upgrades all work though. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/464853 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
