@aa55aa55 - The output of fc-match gulim is:

DejaVuSans.ttf: "DejaVu Sans" "Book"

Do you have that font available on your system?  Are the missing
characters of the gulim font supposed to display as Korean, or as Roman
(English)?  From your statement in comment 14, I think it sounds like
they should be Korean?

Note that I don't have support for Asian languages installed on my
system.  Could you please type fc-match gulim into a terminal on your
system and let us know what the output is?
