The white screen in my title is the well know "white screen of the death" beryl issue (ie you get a white screen and have to manually reboot Xserver) at least I thought it was well know because there are so many forum threads talking about it. So, as I told you, I can't point out exactly what caused this bug because I went back from lunch and the laptop was plain crashed and then it outputed this bug report and forwarded me on this page where I opened a bug and attached the bug report.
