I had the same issues on a different motherboard:

- ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard

- Amd Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3600+

Also this motherboard contains a jMicron chip for IDE devices and I
solve the boot problem by disabling the jMicron controller item from the
BIOS that is set by default to [IDE]. I hope that this temporary
solution help...
