Public bug reported:
The problem has been encountered with the AlsaMixer applet of Cairo-Dock.
using ddd, we could follow the crash until the call of
snd_mixer_handle_events().
I didn't have the bug personnaly (so it seems related to the hardware), but
many users under Ubuntu Karmic have experienced it.
