Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

Synaptic 0.62.5 Kubuntu 9.10

"gtk-alternative-button-order" when set to 1 does not work. It should
change the gnome HIG "Cancel OK" "Cancel Apply" button order to more
kdeish "OK Cancel" Apply Cancel".

It seems (for whatever the reason is) that gtk+ devs require some small extra
code in the application to make this setting work. Here is an example patch
from another application :
http://trac.emma-soft.com/epdfview/ticket/18

Please consider implementing this in Synaptic to improve user experience
on KDE and all other WMs that do not go with "Cancel OK" "Cancel Apply"
button order.

** Affects: synaptic (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
