I can verify this on a VIA EPIA M 6000E motherboard (600MHz VIA C3 processor). When GRUB attempts to load the kernel there is an instantaneous reboot, both in regular and recovery mode.
I don't know how to tell the 6.10 install disk to use the 386 (or generic) image, nor do I know how to tell which one it's using.
