Public bug reported:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CommonCustomizations mentions a lot of stuff
involving adding packages to gnome-app-install. The thing is, finding
anything in gnome-app-install is like strstr(haystack, needle); doubly
so when the user has no idea what the value of needle is.

In other words users aren't magically going to go looking for
msttcorefonts just because it's there. You have to tell them to go get
it.  Somehow you need to get the message in the user's face immediately;
because they're not going to go looking for that either.

The best method for doing this would likely be to add a link on the
Firefox default page that Ubuntu displays when the user tries to browse
the web. A "getting started" section with a link into
getting_started_EN.html (or whatever language) would give an easy
carrot-on-a-stick to lure the user to a page with pictures and
instructions on a few useful things that can be done.
