Following from comment #20. I have the exact same behaviour as described in #20 in karmic too (fresh installation). The syslog is the same too. To summarize:
1. Creative PC-600 webam does not work out of the box anymore in jaunty and karmic 2. The module unload-reload trick works (must be redone each time the webcam is connected) 3.
