Could you please try building the alsa-source kernel modules for your
kernel like so?

1. sudo apt-get install module-assistant
2. sudo m-a get alsa-source
3. sudo m-a build alsa-source
4. sudo m-a install alsa-source
5. Reboot

If your audio input works again, then there is a fix that needs to be
pulled from the latest alsa code into the lucid kernel.

Please report back with the results.
