Same issue here VIA Artigo A2000 barebone I am running 8.04 with kernel 2.6.24 My boot device is a CF-card connected to the 1st (and only) PATA port. On the 1st SATA port I've attached a hdd which is working fine. Now I've tried to connect another hdd to the 2nd SATA port ... without success. I got the following error in dmesg : ata1.01: failed to set xfermode (err_mask=0x1) I switched the two hdd and same error same SATA port. I will try to apply the patch mentioned here above.
