the problem lasts. this time only three programs up: rhythmbox, transmission and firefox. I can't reproduce the freeze. Seems today, that the freeze happens no matter what programs are open. Sometimes I get the impression that there is an invisible window. This is backed by the fact that when I earlier today experienced the freeze, I tried to close down any window without any luck. Suddenly one window popped up, that I believe belonged to bittornado. I closed that one and everything was stuck still. no alt-tab possible. the mouse didn't interact with the windows.
