Seems to be a config problem. I just reinstalled my system, again ubuntu 9.10 and inkscape 0.47pre4 but now it works with globalmenu. Only known difference to old system is the ext4 instead of ext3 partition but this shouldn't matter. Of cause there are a lot of configurations I did not set yet. I will try again after working and configurating a while.
