I too can confirm this bug on my EEE PC with ra2860sta using a fully updated xubuntu lucid. ' sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off ' doesn't seem to work for the RT2860 as Kufner reports.
I remember having the same symptoms in the early days of Jaunty (or was it Intrepid?), but the problems were resolved and my system has been working flawless since.
