[Karmic] On a system with nVidia Corporation C77 [GeForce 8200] , usplash may ot may not display startup splash correctly depending upon the resolution to which it's been set in usplash.conf (1024x768=OK, 1920x1080=No Splash, text boot) but the shutdown splash screen (after X has ran at 1920x1080) always completely corrupts the display (vertical blue bars and static, sometimes system speaker quickly beeping at will, then eventually ends in a restored "text-mode" shutdown, or not).
Workaround : use "nosplash" in grub's menu.lst. usplash is useless fancy crap anyway just preventing you from seeing potentially useful boot messages, and IMH experience, usplash doesn't work properly on most systems not having a "somewhat standard, somewhat low" screen resolution. -- Corrupt splash screen on boot and shutdown since hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/219751 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
