Dave: I cannot see your export attached. But if my export prints out just fine on your system then I would reason there is nothing wrong with OpenOffice suite on my machine. In fact, ODT documents with the very same images do export and print out just fine.
My next investigation would be with a combination of PostScript and Splix because rendering for raw printers like my Xerox Phaser 6100 is very tricky. Come to think of it if Evince displays the PDF with all images nicely rendered and then those images are missing on paper, then OOcalc should not be blamed for that. Having said that, I had just installed cups-pdf package so that I could print out to the real PDF pseudo printer. This was a blessing in older days when OpenOffice PDF export was all buggy. Since I am able to print my documents just fine directly from OOCalc, having a PDF printer sounded like a good idea this time as well. Besides I reckon that CUPS PDF printer is default on Kubuntu install. Making the long story short, I am now able to print to CUPS PDF printer from OOCalc getting PDF files about the size of your export, the resulting PDF is the same each time I print the same document to PDF from OOCalc, and the best thing is that CUPS PDF file is being printed out correctly. Problem solved. Not to mention that having one PDF pseudo printer for the entire system is much more UNIX way to do things, and it is manageable and consistent compared to each and every application (Firefox, OpenOffice, you name it) having its own peculiar way to export to PDF, PostScript or whatever format they choose to support. This is something to think about. What may be considered as necessity on a Windows system is messing things up on Linux machine.
