I can confirm the same thing on my system, but in addition, I notice the
following output from tune2fs:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo tune2fs -l /dev/hda1
tune2fs 1.39 (29-May-2006)
Filesystem volume name: <none>
Last mounted on: <not available>
Filesystem UUID: 01489b91-7a70-4355-9108-b0b86ad2c4da
...
...
Last mount time: Thu Mar 29 07:48:46 2007
Last write time: Thu Mar 29 07:48:46 2007
Mount count: 7
Maximum mount count: 30
Last checked: Thu Jan 1 07:30:00 1970
Check interval: 0 (<none>)

What I notice is that the last checked time doesn't seem to be getting
updated. It shows Jan 1, 1970 - even though if just ran through fsck 30
minutes ago, and every time I boot.
